Fools for CHRIST

Last year, I read numerous books about Missionaries.  My favorite quote is by Jim Elliot, an Ecuadorian missionary,“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

A missionary looks like a fool to the eyes of many because he chooses to save lives at the expense of losing his own life in return!  Missionaries put others before themselves like Jesus did!  They extend unconditional love and gain unmerited favor because of Christ in them!  They learn to forgive and pray for those who find pleasure in sabotaging their missions!  They pray because it keeps them close to God and divine direction.

Jim and his four buddies had guns while the Aucas had spear yet they did not shoot them.  They became martyrs for the gospel of love and forgiveness.  One of the Auca men confessed he had murdered many and stated, "Now Jesus's blood has washed my heart so I don't live that way anymore."  The death of  Jim, Roger, Ed, Pete, & Nate may have seemed like a foolish tragedy to some but for the Aucas it became a loving tragedy for their salvation!
